Q. I don't like some of the rules, do we have any say in how this competition is run?

A. Absolutely. Once the competition is up and running, we will survey the participants. Rules may be modified and adjusted based on member feedback. We will hold yearly reviews for the first three years and every two years thereafter. Based on the members' desires, we can also add divisions and categories as the community grows.

Q. Is this competition considered gambling?

A. No, this is a skill-based chess competition. We run large-scale tournaments similar to other reputable events. We’ve also obtained a legal opinion verifying that our format does not constitute gambling. For more information, refer to our legal documentation.

Q. How long do I have to wait to receive a prize?

A. Prize distribution happens shortly after the competition concludes. Winners are notified, and prize funds are sent out through PayPal or other payment platforms by the next day.

Q. I'm new to chess, what chance do I have to win?

A. Everyone has an equal chance. Our team structure balances stronger players with novices, ensuring that each team has a fair chance of success. The more games you play, the more you improve, and practice will help you make an impact in team events.

Q. I'm a professional chess player. Can I participate?

A. Yes, professionals are welcome to participate just like anyone else. Each team is balanced with players of different skill levels, so there’s always room for pros to compete and contribute to their teams.

Q. Will I always be placed on the same team?

A. No, you’ll be placed on different teams each time you participate, increasing your chances of winning and keeping the competition fresh.

Q. How many events can I participate in?

A. As the tournament grows, more categories will be added. Currently, you can participate in as many as six categories, but as we add more divisions, your options will expand significantly.

Q. What is Rank in 4TeamChess?

A. Rank is your position in the roster based on your Elo rating. Players are sorted, and team captains are chosen based on rank, ensuring that all teams are balanced for fair competition.

Q. Are the teams exactly equal in terms of Elo rating?

A. Teams are designed to be as equal as possible. While the sum of Elo ratings may vary slightly, the balance ensures a competitive and fair environment. Try it during our test phase—it's free!

Q. What happens if someone posts an incorrect Elo or score?

A. Players who post incorrect scores will forfeit their winnings and be suspended for 6 months. Their teammates, however, will still receive their share of the prize.

Q. When will more sub-divisions be available?

A. As we build up the roster of players from different countries and time zones, more subdivisions will open up. We’ll start with the US but expand quickly as demand grows.
